Vintage Eames 1970s fibreglass shell chair by Herman Miller
This is an original Eames shell chair manufactured by Herman Miller, dating back to the 1970s or very early 1980s. The shell has a CPI stamp on it, which means it was made between 1974 and 1982. It's in original condition, which means there are imperfections. That said, it's very presentable indeed for a practical and well-used chair that is around 40 odd years old. There is wear and some staining to the fabric, but no major tears, burns or holes. The foam latex underneath the fabric has sagged and worn in places.
The fibreglass shell is in good condition, with some wear and repairs around the screws/shock-mounts. The shell spins smoothly around on the base.
If you'd like a new or immaculate chair, this isn't going to be for you. However, it will appeal to those who want a genuinely vintage Eames fibreglass with some character.
